Pyjamarama at Ripon school raises money for children with cancer Pupils and staff at a Ripon primary school have hosted a 'Pyjamarama' fundraising day for Children with Cancer UK. The charity committee at Fountains Primary School held the event on Thursday (22nd June), raising a total of £123.30. Children and adults were invited to come to school wearing their pyjamas and bring in a monetary donation. During the day, the Charity Committee led a special Collective Worship to tell all the children about the Charity and how our money would help. The children then spent time working in their colour teams designing their own pyjamas, reading with their Reading Buddies and completing quizzes. Miss Rogers said:
"The day was a great success, every child and adult came dressed in their pyjamas and we were able to raise a great amount of money for such a worthwhile cause."A child on the committee said:
"The pyjama day was great fun, it was really funny to see everyone in their pyjamas. "People who have cancer spend a lot of time in their pyjamas so that's why we were wearing ours."The Charity Committee is a group of children ranging from year 1 up to year 6 who plan events throughout the year for causes they want to support. Miss Rogers explained:
"It is the committee who choose the charities and what they are going to do to support them. "They then do the advertising, so produce posters and write letters to parents. "The Committee then organise and run the activities for the other children to enjoy."Read more local stories from Your Harrogate here.
