One of Boroughbridge’s biggest community events will return to Newby Hall & Gardens on Sunday 23rd July.

Newby Hall to host Aldborough & Boroughbridge Show next weekend One of Boroughbridge’s biggest community events will return to Newby Hall & Gardens next weekend. The Aldborough & Boroughbridge Show returns on Sunday 23rd July and will have all its usual attractions including horses, ponies, shires, shetlands and donkeys, sheep and cattle. The show's ever-popular dog classes will return, alongside locally produced food, both hot and cold, a bar and afternoon tea. There will also be a vintage tractor and car display and Boroughbridge Young Farmers will be in attendance to promote UK farming. A spokesperson for the show said:

"The Northern Shetland display Team will be in our main ring delighting us all. "Trade stands and craft stalls will offer opportunities for shopping and there will be plenty of attractions for the children, including a football “have a go” with Boroughbridge Junior AFC and traditional races alongside mounted and unmounted Fancy Dress for the Children."
The spokesperson added:
"For the creative, there are classes for artwork, handicrafts, floral art and photography. For producers and bakers there are classes for eggs, jam, bread, pastry and baking as well as vegetables, flowers and plants. There are classes for novice gardeners too!"
Flower arrangers will be on hand to showcase their talents and local school children are being encouraged to take part in classes especially designed for them to win various cups. This is also the show's second year of running a membership scheme and visitors are being encouraged to sign up to enjoy afternoon tea, members parking, access to a bar area and view the main ring from the President’s tent. Catherine Park Peyton Chairman said:
"After a very successful show last year we are excited to welcome everyone back to Newby Hall to enjoy our wonderful show. "We are thankful that the Compton family continue to allow us to use their wonderful home and we truly believe our event is a great showcase for all things rural in the local area. "Our ticket price includes access to the show on the day and also the beautiful Newby Hall Gardens and playground. "This year we have also forged a link with the Boroughbridge Chamber of Trade as it is so important that we promote our beautiful town to all our visitors!”
Fiona Prattley, Boroughbridge Chamber of Trade added:
“The Boroughbridge and District Chamber of Trade is a keen supporter of the Aldborough and Boroughbridge Agricultural Show. "In their own ways, both organisations promote the wonderful town of Boroughbridge and the wider district. With lots of attractions and a fine array of local independent shops and businesses, it’s a great place to visit”.
