The second ever Rudding ParkRun was held last month in aid of the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease Appeal.
More than £5,800 donated to Leeds Hospital Charity following Rudding ParkRun Rudding Park has donated its final fundraising total of more than £5,800 to charity following the second ever Rudding ParkRace. The event was held on 9th May as runners followed a 10km trail around the grounds at Rudding Park. And a final total of £5822.40 was raised to support former Leeds Rhinos player Rob Burrow’s Centre for Motor Neurone Disease. Staff from Rudding Park, including Nuno César de Sá and Matthew Wilkinson who were the inspiration behind the race, presented the cheque to Giles Fretwell, Events and Community Fundraising Manager at Leeds Hospitals Charity. The event was held for a second year last month and saw Olympian and friend of Rudding Park Jonny Brownlee set the runners off at the start line. [caption id="attachment_63430" align="aligncenter" width="1024"] The first, second and third-placed runners for both the male and female categories.[/caption] First to finish was Tom Adams from Ilkley Harriers in 35 minutes and 13 seconds. Fastest lady was Georgia Malir from Leeds City AC in 40 minutes and fifty four seconds. Rudding Park’s Hotel Manager Nuno César de Sá said:
“Last year we had 300 participants so to welcome over 400 participants this year has been brilliant. It’s fantastic to see everyone enjoying themselves and soaking up the atmosphere. “We are also thrilled to support the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease Appeal as part of the Rudding Park ‘Giving Something Back’ initiative.”Following the race, participants and spectators enjoyed drinks and a hog roast in the fan zone by the finish line at Rudding House, with its views over the Vale of York.
