A Knaresborough mum is set to host a family fun day in aid of the charity which cared for her daughter during her final days.
Katie Beadle is fundraising for Martin House Childen’s Hospice, who cared for her newborn Millie.
The day will be held on Saturday (24th August) at Knaresborough Rugby Club featuring inflatables, a petting farm, music from DJ Rory Hoy, a tombola and a raffle.
And money raised will go towards Martin House’s ‘BIG BUILD project’ as they plan to ‘transform’ the hospice.
Millie’s story
Millie was born in 2009 and from her birth, it was determined that she had a lack of oxygen in her brain and for the first month of her life she was in the intensive care unit in Manchester Hospital.
Once Millie came home, she required round-the-clock care.
Katie said:
“Martin House became our lifeline. They offered care and support to Millie, Jay and I, they soon became part of our family and helped us with all aspects of Millie’s care.”
After a few weeks at home, Millie was rushed back to hospital with an infection which is when her parents, Katie and Jay were told that she only had a few days to live.
Millie wasn't stable enough to make it to Martin House, so they came to her every day until she passed away at just four and a half months old.
Katie said:
"In Millie’s Legacy, I thought what a better was to do this than to support Martin House with their BIG BUILD project!
“So, come and ‘back the build’ with us!"
The Family Fun Day will be held at Knaresborough Rugby Club from 12pm on Saturday 24th August. Proceeds will go to Martin House Children's Hospice.
