Henshaws anonymous art sale raises £10,000 for the charity

Henshaws anonymous art sale has managed to raise £10,000, a life-changing amount for the charity and its service users.

Henshaws anonymous art sale raises £10,000 for the charity Harrogate charity Henshaws has raised a whopping £10,000 from its anonymous art sale - a life-changing amount for the charity and its service users. As part of the fundraising event, Henshaws was able to sell prestigious and collectible artwork to the public without telling them who has created it. The charity had been donated more than 100 pieces of artwork from a range of talented artists. The collection included everything from landscape watercolours to Claude Monet style pieces, and they use an array of different materials and formats. And following the success of the event, the charity has paid tribute to artists who contributed work, including Clare Granger - the High Sheriff of North Yorkshire and a patron of the charity. Clare, an artist herself, co-organised the event alongside Sid Hines. Both also donated their own artwork to the sale. Flora Simpson, Senior Fundraiser at Henshaws, said:

“We wanted people to judge the art solely on its aesthetic appeal and by the personal connection they felt with a piece. “Art is at the heart and soul of what we do at the centre. Like any other artist, our art makers put love and passion into everything they create. “This exhibition has allowed people to see their talent and not simply their disabilities.”
All proceeds from the art sale will go to support Henshaws Charity, including the Arts and Crafts centre in Knaresborough. Henshaws are already looking ahead to a completely new catalogue of inspirational works in 2024. If any artists would like to be involved with next year’s event and donate a piece, please email flora.simpson@henshaws.org.uk. Read more local stories from Your Harrogate here.
