Harrogate Scrubbers have sewed kit bags for the Harrogate Town AFC squad, with the club donating to Harrogate & District NHS Foundation in return.
Harrogate Scrubbers have sewed kit bags for the whole squad at Harrogate Town AFC. The club reached out to Harrogate Scrubbers following their success in sewing scrubs for NHS workers. In return, the football club will make a donation to the Harrogate & District NHS Foundation.
Following a request from Harrogate Town AFC for scrub bags for their team to use for their kit, the Harrogate Scrubbers have again jumped to the rescue and within a couple of weeks produced a matching set for the whole team.
Having previously provided scrubs for Harrogate Hospital, GP Surgeries and local hospices in the first lockdown, the team of sewers relished the opportunity to take on another sewing project.
With Showtime Fabrics providing the fabric and White Rose Sewing the accessories, volunteers Carrie Brown, Susie Cox, Stella Zealand, Karola Cramoysan, Kathy Wilkinson, Margaret Bleasdale, Denise Huntington, Rosalind Waite, Doreen Stephenson, Lyn Clarke and Phyllis Tyson all jumped at the opportunity to help.

"It was so lovely to see the immediate response from the volunteers all wanting to support their local team and get involved, the speed at which all of them completed the bags was inspiring!"
Local printers PG Branding located in Hornbeam Park also gave their support, offering to print the players numbers on the bags at no cost. Sales Director Nick Jarett said:
"When we saw the appeal to print the kit bags we immediately stepped in and offered our services.
"As a local firm it was great to be given the chance to support our local football club and the amazing work of the Harrogate Scrubbers."
Harrogate Town Managing Director Garry Plant also gave his thanks to everyone involved:
"This has been a great project to be part of and we have really enjoyed the camaraderie and enthusiasm that everyone has put in to providing the kit bags.
"The team will be absolutely delighted with them!"
