Harrogate school hosts 'Circus Day' to celebrate Headteacher's retirement Killinghall CE Primary School has hosted a 'Circus Day' to celebrate both the end of term and the final days of its retiring Headteacher. Sarah Bassitt has announced she will be retiring from her role as Headteacher at the school after 12 years. She has spearheaded several important projects including a fundraising campaign for Ukraine last year - despite also tackling flood devastation that saw four classrooms out of action. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?ref=external&v=382594773388221 Under Mrs Bassitt's stewardship, Killinghall was rated 'Good' by Ofsted last year, with inspectors praising the quality of education, behaviour, attitudes and leadership within the school. "I'm counting down the days but I know the next two weeks are going to be quite hard as well. "Saying goodbye after 37 years in education is going to be tough because this has been my life but life moves on. "I'm looking ahead to new ventures and new adventures, so bring it on!"To celebrate the occasion and the end of term, the school hosted a 'Circus Day' for pupils, parents and governors alike today (Wednesday). Pupils were surprised with a Big Top, circus workshops and parachute games throughout the day. Recalling her highlights from her time at the school, Mrs Bassitt said:
"It's always about the children and days like today when we bring the whole community together that make it so special. "We've celebrated Jubilees, two royal weddings, Coronations, the Tour de Yorkshire past the school - and throw a bit of covid in too, you get the full works!"[caption id="attachment_69584" align="aligncenter" width="1024"] The Circus Day at Killinghall CE Primary School.[/caption] Everyone at Your Harrogate wishes Mrs Bassitt a happy retirement.
