Fundraiser launched for Ripon boy who was left paralysed after accident at home A fundraising campaign has been launched to support a Ripon boy’s rehabilitation after an accident at home left him paralysed. 15-year-old Alan Nowicka fell from a small height on 9th December 2023 whilst doing his daily exercise. Unfortunately he suffered a spine fracture with dislocation at T10-11 level, resulting in a spinal cord injury. Despite spinal surgery, the teenager has been left paralysed with a loss of feeling from the waist down and a lack of control over his physiological needs. Alan requires intensive rehabilitation as soon as possible - an expensive process that will give him a chance to fight for his future plans. According to his mum Kamila, who has launched the fundraising campaign, he dreams of becoming a pilot. She said:

“Alan is a good soul, he doesn't give up, he fights and thinks positively all the time. "He wants to go back to school as soon as possible and write his GCSEs this year. He strongly believes that he will start walking again. “Alan needs the support of good people to get back on his feet and make his dreams come true. “Unfortunately, rehabilitation at the center is expensive, so we are asking for help and support for our son. “We are full of hope and faith that our beloved son will come out of this nightmare, we know that there are good people out there.”

Speaking on social media about the support Alan has received, Kamila said:
“We are absolutely blown away by your kind messages, support and your donations big and small. Times are hard and we appreciate your help. “It goes without saying that we would never thought we will be in this situation, asking people for money, but we need to give Alan the care and rehabilitation that he needs right now. “I have an awful lot to deal with behind the scenes therefore I may not reply to your messages straight away, but please be assured that every kind word means a world to me and is greatly appreciated.”
