Name: Belmont Grosvenor School
Location: Harrogate
Acting Headteacher: Emma Shea

Belmont Grosvenor is a down-to-earth and nurturing school set in magical grounds just a 10-minute drive from the centre of Harrogate.

We’re a small, independent, friendly school where boys and girls are nurtured and challenged to make outstanding progress and gain the strong foundations to thrive in our fast-changing world.

BGS has a real family feel; everybody’s contribution to school life is valued and children and adults forge firm friendships.

But don’t just take our word for it – in a recent pupil survey children said ‘kindness’, ‘friendship’ and ‘great lessons’ were their favourite things about BGS!

Located in Birstwith, just up from the village church, BGS welcomes boys and girls from three months to 11 years.

We put our pupil’s happiness, academic development and wellbeing at the heart of all we do.

Our countryside location brings so many benefits to our pupils, not just to their educational attainment but their long-term well-being too.

Our Gothic school building with Bronte connections and beautiful 20-acres of grounds provides endless outdoor learning opportunities for our happy children every day of the week.

We’ve got our own woodland, where our children from the youngest in nursery to our oldest in Year 6, enjoy Forest School lessons.

They build camp fires, go on scavenger hunts, climb trees and, on special days, toast marshmallows.

These lessons aren’t just fun, they help build a child’s self-confidence, resilience, social skills as well as co-ordination.

We’ve got extensive sports fields, our own swimming pool as well as outdoor classroom and amphitheatre. Children leave BGS at the end of their school day muddy, fulfilled and buzzing with ideas

Class sizes are small and pupils benefit from specialist teachers and facilities, including an ICT suite, DT and Art room, fully-equipped science and language labs and gym.

Hand in hand with the traditional prep school offering, BGS children learn computer programming, engineering, philosophy, modern foreign languages, environmental awareness and the critical thinking skills that are the foundations of innovation and entrepreneurialism.

Project-based learning instils an understanding of our diverse world and a sense of responsibility for our environment.

We have big dreams and the dedication and determination to achieve them. If your child has a talent, we will spot it, develop it and celebrate it.

No matter what the starting point, every child will be stretched to meet their all-round academic, sporting, creative and emotional potential.

We cherish childhood and make every day fun. Our goal is to inspire a lasting love of learning and work with children to make them feel happy at school and in their friendships.
