The Great Knaresborough Bunny Hunt has returned in time for half term!

Started by Laura Dudley of Painting Pots in Knaresborough, the Great Knaresborough Bunny Hunt asks families to grab a map and hunt down ceramic bunnies hidden in shops around the town.

The activity aims to provide some family fun during half term whilst fundraising for charity and boosting footfall for local shops.

The event started on Saturday 22nd May and will run until the end of half term on Sunday 6th June.

Laura said:

“I set up the Great Knaresborough Bunny Hunt because I wanted to raise awareness of the amazing businesses in Knaresborough, increase footfall, give families a cheap activity for the day and to raise money for charities.”

Laura has teamed up with local artists to paint 15 ceramic bunnies before hiding them in local shop windows.

Participating families can grab a map, designed by artist Helen Salmon, for just £2.

The event was first started in 2018 and has raised close to £5,000 for charity.

Laura said:

“Hopefully it will boost local businesses in the area and bunny hunters just love finding the bunnies.”

Bunny hunters will receive a treat and a sticker for taking part – and will also be entered into a draw to win prizes donated by local businesses.

Painting Pots on Castlegate in Knaresborough has recently been able to reopen following the easing of restrictions – and Laura has loved seeing her customers again.

She added:

“We at Painting Pots have just opened up again and we’re so excited to have lots of people in doing painting, teddy bear making and lots of lovely things.

“It’s so nice to have people back in, meet new customers and see old customers and to be able to offer lots of things for people – it’s so nice.”
