Swinton Estate offering free passes to Harrogate charity volunteers

The Swinton Estate is offering free day passes to volunteers of a Harrogate charity to thank them for their hard work during the pandemic. As part of Mental Health Awareness Week next week, the Masham-based estate will be offering a free day pass to Harrogate Easier Living Project (HELP) volunteers and their chosen guests. The gesture is to thank the volunteers, of which there are more than 250, for their work supporting the local community during Covid-19. Iain Shelton, Managing Director of the Swinton Estate, said:

"During our partnership with HELP we have seen the huge difference their support services make to our local community. We were only too keen to get involved in rewarding HELP’s volunteers for the extraordinary commitment they have shown to helping others during Covid-19."
As its charity of the year, HELP has been supported by the Swinton Estate since early 2020. During lockdown the Estate provided luxury toiletries for surprise doorstep deliveries to the charity’s befriending clients in the Ripon area. They have also donated takeaway afternoon teas to reward some of the charity’s volunteers and contributed star raffle prizes to support HELP’s fundraising. Frances Elliot, CEO of HELP’s parent charity, Harrogate and District Community Action, added:
"Our incredible team of volunteers has been ‘Here to HELP’ anyone who has turned to us during the pandemic. Whether that’s been practical support with shopping and prescription deliveries or simply lending a listening ear over the phone. "We are extremely grateful to the Swinton Estate for providing a much-needed opportunity for our volunteers to relax and enjoy the stunning estate grounds and for their ongoing support."
