The upcoming 'Sounds in the Grounds' concerts in Harrogate and York will go ahead - despite the extension of lockdown restrictions.

The upcoming 'Sounds in the Grounds' concerts in Harrogate and York will go ahead - despite the extension of lockdown restrictions. The outdoor music event complies with current Covid-19 guidelines and the event will go ahead as planned on 25th, 26th and 27th June at York Racecourse. The event will also be heading to Ripley Castle from 20th until 22nd August, featuring a selection of best-loved bands. Organisers have reiterated plans to ensure the event remains safe and socially-distanced, and are encouraging audiences to pre-select a picnic patch beforehand. [caption id="attachment_7904" align="aligncenter" width="2560"] Killer Queen and One Night of Tina will be among the acts performing at Sounds in the Grounds at Ripley Castle in August[/caption] Sounds in the Grounds - York Racecourse With only 10 days to go, the bands are rehearsing, the Clocktower Enclosure is mown and the crew are preparing to install the stage, lighting and sound for the three Sounds in the Grounds concerts:  Friday 25th June: Beyond the Barricade - past principals from Les Miserables perform showstoppers from the world’s greatest musicals. Saturday 26th June: ABBA MANIA – the world’s number one touring ABBA tribute with platforms, flares and all your favourite songs. Sunday 27th June: A Country Night in Nashville – a celebration of country music with hits from its biggest stars, both past and present. Producer James Cundall said:

"These picnic concerts are a great opportunity to get together and enjoy a fun night of live music in a safe, socially distanced way. "From the glorious Broadway classics to Dancing Queen and Dolly Parton, I hope we have something for everyone."
Sounds in the Grounds concerts are designed to comply with all official guidance on Covid-19, ensuring audiences can enjoy live music outdoors in a safe and responsible way. Picnic patches will be defined by painted lines in the grass arena within the grounds, with views of the stately home or racecourse and grandstands. The patches have been designed to be one metre apart within each row, with two-metre aisles between the rows. James added:
"Without doubt the New York Brass Band is one of York’s best exports and it will be wonderful to get them on stage in their home city.  Importantly it’s an opportunity for both musicians and crew to showcase their talent again after months of inactivity during these difficult times. "Our picnic patch concept enables patrons to pre-book their own designated space, thereby eliminating that mad scramble for the best site which often mars an outdoor concert!  Our audiences can turn up when it suits them and know they will have a safe and fun evening."
Sounds in the Grounds will take place at the Clocktower Enclosure at York Racecourse from 25-27 June 2021, as well as Ripley Castle near Harrogate from 20-22 August where a new line-up of ever-popular bands will perform 'The Definitive Rat Pack.' Tickets for all concerts are on sale now and start at £59 for two people (plus booking fees) for a standard picnic patch.  Premium and standard picnic patches for 2, 4 or 6 people, and multiple patches, can be purchased at https://soundsinthegrounds.seetickets.com.  All Covid-19 guidance from the Government is continuously monitored and followed.
