Harrogate Fake Festival cancelled due to lockdown extension

The Harrogate Fake Festival has been cancelled following the extension of lockdown restrictions.

The Harrogate Fake Festival has been cancelled following the extension of lockdown restrictions. The event was due to be held on the Stray on Saturday 17th July - just two days before the new 'freedom date' when lockdown rules will be lifted. And organisers have revealed that the easing of restrictions was "paramount" for the event. The Harrogate event has now been cancelled for two consecutive years due to the pandemic. Fake Festivals put out the following statement on social media:

"Unfortunately, due to the delay in stage 4 COVID restriction unlocking (which was paramount for us to go ahead), we now have to cancel the following Fake Festivals: Tynemouth, Horsham, Chelmsford, Doncaster, Gloucester, Lancaster, Bedford and Harrogate.

"To all our loyal fans that have supported us, bought tickets and then had your festivals cancelled… Thank you for trying, we will be back next year and we can’t wait to see you then."

The event, which was to be held in the Fake Festival 'giant marquee' on the Stray, was due to feature a number of tribute acts including Queen and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Organisers revealed that tickets will be automatically refunded. Read more local stories from Your Harrogate here.
