The postponed Euro 2020 tournament kicks off today (Friday 11th June) as football-mania is set to return to Harrogate.
You’ll remember Gareth Southgate’s England reached the semi-finals of the World Cup in 2018 – and Harrogate residents took to local bars and pubs to get behind the team.
And with England’s first match against Croatia on Sunday (13th June) coinciding with a weekend heatwave, it looks like local people will be flocking to their favourite venues and beer gardens to watch the match once again.
The matches will all be featured on either BBC One or ITV throughout the whole tournament – so expect a lot of your favourite places to show them – but we’ve picked out a few where you can be singing ‘It’s Coming Home’ with pride come 2pm Sunday…
The Alexandra, Harrogate
The Alexandra is on Prospect Place in Harrogate and will be at the heart of football-mania for the England matches.
‘The Alex’ is opposite Pitcher & Piano and Banyan, who are both also likely to show the matches, so you’ll be in good company should England win!
The team at the Harrogate venue have warned fans that they’ll be taking bookings only – so think ahead to get a good spot.
TAP on Tower Street
TAP on Tower Street are another of Harrogate’s favourite venues when it comes to watching live sport.
They’ll be showing the England match on their screens this weekend and throughout the tournament – but again, book ahead to avoid missing out!
The Den on Cambridge Road will be showing England v Croatia at 2pm on Sunday and have gone all out to make it a football experience to remember.
They’ll be showing the match on 7 HD screens and with two projectors, so you’ll be able to see the game no matter where you sit!
Again – book ahead to ensure you get seated.
