8 year old Harrogate girl has nine inches cut off her hair for charity

A young girl from Harrogate has had nine inches cut off her hair, all in aid of charity.

A young girl from Harrogate has had nine inches cut off her hair, all in aid of charity. 8 year old Poppy Charlton, who goes to Richard Taylor Primary School, has sent her hair to the Little Princess Trust, who make real-hair wigs for children who've lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions. Poppy, who's also a member of 2nd Bilton Brownies and the choir at St Johns, Bilton, now wants to raise money for the charity through sponsorship, she's already reached £95 and is hoping for more donations. Her decision to do this is all the more poignant as Poppy's hair didn't grow very quickly when she was little. Poppy's nan Dianne Henderson said:

"Poppy has wanted to do this for the past year so grew her hair long enough to do it.  "She chose this type of charity as we have family and friends that have been affected by cancer and she wanted to help other children."
